What Are Your Ideal Moments?

You've likely heard of ideal days, but have you heard of ideal moments?

I love ideal day exercises because they guide you to where you want to go in life, but I also love ideal moments because they allow you to add glimmers of joy to your life right now.

Ideal days are the foundation of how you want to live your life.

Ideal moments boost the joy of those days.

Let me give you some examples…

Last Monday

I had my friend, Jocelyn and her two little girls over to celebrate the first day of school. (They home school, but we wanted to commemorate that back to school energy.)

We went to Super Secret Ice Cream then came back to my house so the girls could take my cats outside on their harnesses. After that they picked out the prettiest blooms on my hydrangea bush to clip and take home. I also sent them home with vanilla extract and sourdough brownies I had made.

Saturday

I did a bit of decluttering and immediately brought my boxes to the thrift shop. While on Main Street, I checked my PO Box (which had two client payment checks!), then dropped off some sourdough brownies and Olipops to my friend, Paige and her new employee at Tailswag.

I came home and made a lentil dal which I enjoyed with some homemade sourdough bread, then spent part of the afternoon reading on my couch while listening to the rain outside my window.

Monday

Shelby and I watched Cannonball Run while I sipped a hot chocolate and enjoyed two sourdough chocolate chip cookies I pulled from my freezer and heated up.

Today

I had a client meeting in Lancaster this morning, which is half an hour north of where I live.

Since I was in town, I took myself out to lunch at the Polish Princess Bakery, one of my favorite spots. I savored my chicken salad sandwich outside with a blackberry jasmine iced tea and half an almond horn cookie.

And then I drove home with the top of my convertible bug down!

When thinking about what could be your ideal moments, reflect on what makes you feel fulfilled.

For me that's being present with loved ones, eating something delicious, sensing nature through sunshine, bare feet on the grass, and relaxing to rain, gifting something I created, and listening to my favorite upbeat tunes while roller skating or ice skating beneath the winter sun.

This list can be incorporated in many simple ways, proving you don't have to wait for a day off to have ideal moments.

For example, last Monday I taught three fitness classes before getting together with Jocelyn, and today I went to Pilates and met with a client before having lunch at the Polish Princess and driving home with the top down.

I love spontaneous ideal moments, but it's also helpful to schedule them in.

This Friday I'm heading back to King Arthur for another baking class, which I booked months ago.

I typically spend Wednesdays after Pilates roller skating, because I'm already at Studium Fitness where I skate. (I share why scheduling this in is so important in the caption of this Instagram post.)

What are your ideal moments? How can you incorporate them throughout your week?
